“The World Cannot Have Too Many Healers!”
|
Just for today...I will let go of anger. I am a Reiki Master/Teacher trained in the Usui Reiki Ryoho tradition. My introduction to Reiki was prompted by a passing comment from a medical intuitive to my husband Patrick to seek “energy work” or Reiki to help with his back pain. Driven in part by curiosity and in part by a hope to help Patrick, I thoroughly explored Reiki, collecting historical and modern perspectives on its subtle nature. After receiving attunements to Reiki I and Reiki II by Reiki Master/Teacher Geraldine Zelinsky, I provided daily treatments for my husband’s back pain. The pain occurred less frequently and then became more bearable. I then gave weekly treatments to my sister Sharon, who for two years, had been taking medication for cardiomyopathy with minimal improvement. During the Reiki sessions Sharon felt distinct, unfamiliar pulsations, and in three months her ejection fraction had markedly improved. Absent any other treatment changes, she said that it could only have been the Reiki. With such impressive initial results, my enthusiasm for this subtle yet effective energy blossomed. I continued giving treatments to friends and family but could not contain my increasing interest in Reiki. Not only did I want to learn more about it, but as a former English teacher, my heart kept telling me that I should share this wonderful new knowledge. With the support of my newly-convinced husband, we arranged a “vacation trip” to Sedona, Arizona, the home of well-known Reiki Master/Teachers Laurelle Gaia and Michael Baird. With over 20 years’ experience in practicing and teaching Reiki, Laurelle and Michael immersed me into a learning process encompassing mind, body and spirit. After rigorous instruction on the advanced levels of Reiki, I received the attunements for Master/Teacher and am certified by the International Center for Reiki Training. I have also been attuned to Shinpiden Level Reiki (Third Degree) by Don Beckett who also taught me the art of giving Reiju to my students, a method used by Dr. Usui to boost the energy of his students. Additionally, I have learned Karuna Reiki® from Jim Pathfinder Ewing, a Reiki Master/Teacher and Shaman/Medicine Man, and I am now qualified to teach this form of Reiki which has been noted to have a higher vibration. My journey continues with studies of Reiki and all its aspects, as not only a stress relaxation method, but also as an energy that can bring about spiritual peace and centeredness. I teach Reiki classes throughout North Louisiana. I believe “The world cannot have too many healers!” Daily practice of the Reiki Precepts in Gassho as put forth by Dr. Usui has given me a peacefulness and serenity that I had previously not had. Gassho means “two hands coming together, as in prayer.” Dr. Usui called this daily Gassho and the recitation of the precepts “The Secret Method to invite happiness; the miraculous medicine for all diseases.” Just for Today, I will let go of worry. Just for today, I will let go of anger. Today, I will count my many blessings. Today, I will do my work honestly. Today, I will be kind to all creatures. With your hands held in prayer, in the morning and at night, say them out loud or in your mind. This is the Usui Method to improve mind and body and has become a meaningful addition to my normal prayers. I would love to open your hands, your heart and your mind to the wonderful healing energy of Reiki. Once attuned, you have this loving energy for life.
